Description: THE DEEPER INTENT OF THE HEART:

This weekend non-residential retreat will be focused toward the idea that if we want to be at peace. we better hurry up and figure out how.

Life is flying by, and our to-do list isn’t going away. The good news is that we do not need to stop all our activities in order to be at ease. We always have the capacity to recognize what is going on, to open and connect more deeply.

These inner movements of mind and heart can happen in any context, bringing us to what T.S. Eliot called “the still point of the turning world” even in the midst of activity. But we do need to take time to develop and nurture this skill. On this weekend retreat we will practice turning toward our experience.

Rather than being chopped up by the centrifugal whirl of judging, planning, regretting and obligation, we attune to a deeper intention of our heart, the wish simply to let ourselves be--however we are. Thus we fnd out that we are never separate from the dynamic life happening inside and outside of us.

Trudy Goodman and Lila Kate Wheeler will be teaching the retreat. This has become a much-anticipated yearly event!

Lila has practiced Buddhist meditation since 1977, and teaches at IMS in Barre, MA. Lila edited Sayadaw U Pandita's books, including "The State of Mind Called Beautiful." She is also a prize-winning fiction and travel writer, and lectures in Creative Writing at Tufts University.
