Insight LA is affiliated with distinguished organizations dedicated to teaching mindfulness and meditation.

Spirit Rock

Spirit Rock Meditation Center is dedicated to the teachings of the Buddha as presented in the Vipassana, or Insight meditation tradition. The practice of mindful awareness is at the heart of all the activities at Spirit Rock, which range from workshops, daylong retreats and ongoing classes to residential retreats of varying lengths. Spirit Rock is located in Woodacre, CA, about 20 miles north of San Francisco.

Spirit Rock was founded by noted Buddhist teacher and author Jack Kornfield, who has been a great friend, mentor and co-teacher with Trudy Goodman since she began teaching in California in 2002. Many students from Insight LA study with Trudy at Spirit Rock where she teaches various retreats throughout the year, including the Spring retreat in Yucca Valley and the full month intensive silent retreat in March.

Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy

The Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy (IMP) is a organization dedicated to teaching Western and Buddhist psychology to mental health professionals interested in the integration of mindfulness meditation and psychotherapy. The goal of the Institute's work is to further research in the field, enhance the quality of clinical interventions, the therapy relationship, and the well-being of the therapist. Among its activities, IMP sponsors an ongoing series of conferences symposia, seminars and workshops which explore the relationship between meditation and psychotherapy, with an emphasis on the clinical application of mindfulness techniques to therapeutic practice.

Trudy Goodman was one of three founders of the Institute in 1995, and has been their Guiding Teacher ever since. IMP is the first professional organization specifically created to explore the interface between meditation and psychotherapy -- a pioneer in a rapidly growing field of education and research.

The Center for Mindfulness and Psychotherapy here in Los Angeles was co-founded by Trudy in 2002, and is the West Coast affiliate of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy in Boston.

Center for Mindfulness and Psychotherapy

The Center for Mindfulness and Psychotherapy (CMP) is an L.A.-based organization committed to the exploration of meditation and psychotherapy, and to developing the synergy of these two dynamic fields, which are playing an ever more important role in our understanding of consciousness and healing. The Center was founded by Trudy Goodman, Marjorie Schuman, and Concetta Alfano, each of whom combines many years of practice and accomplishments in the field of psychotherapy with extensive meditation experience and expertise.

CMP, an accredited continuing education provider, offers a variety of educational programs. Both past and present seminars, workshops and classes are listed on the CMP website.
