Stephen & Martine Batchelor: Towards a Secular Buddhism
Join us for a rare appearance together of Stephen & Martine Batchelor, who will teach a special weekend retreat at InsightLA.
As Buddhist ideas and techniques of meditation are adopted in modern thought and psychotherapy by people who would not consider themselves "Buddhists," the traditional identity of Buddhism as a belief-based religion is thrown into question. During this weekend retreat of meditation, talks and discussion we will explore the meaning and implications of this secularization of the Dharma, and ask what might be gained and lost in this process.
Schedule for the weekend (subject to change):
Friday, November 11, 7:30pm - 9:00pm -- PUBLIC TALK
Saturday, November 12, 10:00am - 4:00pm -- DAY 1
Sunday, November 13, 10:00am - 4:00pm -- DAY 2
