Daylong Silent Zen Retreat
Join us for sitting, walking, and eating in silence using the simple meditation practice forms of the Soto Zen tradition.
Ava Stanton will lead this daylong retreat of silent meditation, ending with a Dharma Talk, questions and answers. Ava is a Lay Entrusted Teacher in the Suzuki Roshi Zen lineage (San Francisco Zen Center), as well as a teacher of Basics of Mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion at InsightLA.
Following an orientation to the forms and essence of Zen practice, we will keep silence, giving ourselves the safe container to drop in to our mindfulness with the support of others on the mindful path.
Please bring a simple lunch to be eaten together in silence. In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity for a practice discussion conversation with Ava.
We welcome people who sit in chairs, who need to lie down, or need other physical accomodations.
No one will be turned away for financial reasons.
*Ava will be assisted by long-time Zen students from the Friday morning Zen sitting group at InsightLA and the Ocean Moon Sangha of Hill Street Center.
**There will be a chance to give dana at the retreat directly for the teacher.
